Description:
The Batopilas Mining project epithermal low sulfidation silver – gold deposit is located 246 miles south of Chihuahua city, just NE of Batopilas town and eastern end of the Sierra Madre Occidental, emplaced in Mesozoic volcano-sedimentary sequences and Cretaceous to Eocene intrusive complex. Batopilas mine in Chihuahua (48-45 Ma) and Real de Angeles in Zacatecas, Durango (45.2 Ma) were reported as the oldest epithermal deposit in the Sierra Madre Occidental (lower-middle Eocene). Deposits of this age are hosted by the Lower Volcanic Supergroup of the Sierra Madre Occidental and are related to the Laramide magmatism of the Sierra Madre Occidental.
